Google webmaster is a must-have tool for SEO professionals. It is a free tool by Google which helps webmasters to check indexing status, ranking, website health and increases the visibility of websites.

On May 20, 2015, Google rebranded Webmaster as Google Search console. If you are currently preparing for the interview then having a good command of Google Webmaster is a must.

Q1. Is it possible to see what pages of a website are indexed by Google?

Ans. – Yes, and this is one of the primary reason to use Google webmaster. You can find the indexed status of web pages in two ways –

Case 1 :

  1. Login to Google Webmaster
  2. Navigate to “Google Index”.
  3. Under the “Google Index” click on “Index Status”.
  4. Here you can see the number of pages which are indexed by Google.

Case 2:

If you don’t want to login to Webmaster. and wants to see the index status then you can perform a manual search by google operator

Type site:websiteurl.com and Hit Enter, In my case, I have used the domain name ” websiteurl.com” you can replace it with your domain name.

2. How can you find the top-performing search queries under google Search console?

To find the top search queries, one needs to login to the search console and choose the property. Under the property click on the performance tab.

In performance Tab, you will find the query tab, where you can see the top queries, you can download it for further analysis.

3. Is it possible to see internal links in Google Search console?

Yes, Internal linking is very important and webmaster allows to see the internal and external link data.

for that, one needs to click on the “Links” tab, where you can see total internal links, external links, top linking sites, and top linking text.

4. What is the use of Data Highlighter?

Ans. – Data Highlighter is a tool in Google webmaster which helps Google to understand the pattern of structured data on the Website. To do so, you can use this feature to tag the data fields on a web page with a mouse. If you have an e-commerce site then you can quickly highlight the reviews, product data, event, etc.

Q5. What is the use of HTML improvements in Google Webmaster?

Ans. – HTML improvement in Google Webmaster shows the problems and issues found by Google Bots while crawling and indexing of the website. The common issues are –

  1. Title Issues
  2. Meta description issues.
  3. Non Indexable Pages/content

  1. Login To Google Webmaster tool
  2. On the left-hand Click ” Search Appearance”
  3. Under “Search Appearance” Click “HTML improvements”.

Q6. What is Search Traffic in Google Webmaster and How you can use it for enhancing the traffic of Website?

Ans. – In the Google Webmaster tool, the Search Traffic section tells that about traffic, backlinks, targeting and other mobile usability issues.  It is divided into 6 different subsections, which are listed below –

  1. Search Analytics
  2. Links to your site
  3. Internal links
  4. International Targeting
  5. Mobile Usability

In Search Analytics, section  You will find the information about:

Clicks, Impressions, click-through rate, keyword positions along with that you can also get insights about Search queries, web pages, countries where you are getting traffic, devices, search appearance, and the search type.

Links to your site: This section tells you about the total number of sites that are linking to your website.

Internal Links:  As you know how internal linking matters for the website’s keyword ranking, navigation, and overall domain authority. In this section, you will get information about the internal links.

Manual Action: Google loves those sites which follow the guidelines of its search engine. If your website violets the guidelines of Google or any type of webspam is found on your site, then it will show in this section. It gives you an idea of what was the reason behind it.

International Targeting: From here, you can target your website in any specific country, A country from where you want to get traffic to your website.

Mobile Usability:  Every search engine today loves those websites which have responsive design. In this section, you will get information about mobile usability and you will often find the error related to your site. some errors are –

Q7:  What are Crawl Errors?

Ans. – Crawl error tells us the problem which Google bots are facing while indexing our site. As you know in a crawling process, a search engine bot linds links and then start visiting the other pages.

As a webmaster, our role is to make sure that Googlebot indexes all your site,. Whenever it founds difficulty to crawl, it returns as a “CRAWL ERROR“.

Q8. What is Ad Experience in Google Webmaster?

Ans. – Ad experience is the combination of website layout, user behavior, website content and ads that a web user exposed when he visits your site. It helps the website owner to maintain the engagement of users by preventing the reasons of annoying and distracting users from your website.
In google webmaster, you can access this report by visiting https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ad-experience-unverified

Google uses this for giving users a better ad experience. If a website reviewed, you will see the status Warning/Failing and you can make fixes according to that.
